About the trip
Poovar is a small village near the southern tip of Kerala where the Neyyar river flows into the Arabian Sea. The main draw is the boat ride through mangrove-lined backwaters to a strip of sand between the estuary and the sea, plus floating cottages and island resorts. The drive heads south past Kovalam and Vizhinjam on a short coastal road.
