About the trip
Kollam is an old port town on the Kerala coast and the gateway to Ashtamudi Lake, one of the state's largest backwaters. People make the trip from Trivandrum for houseboat and canoe rides, quiet beaches and the Munroe Island villages. The drive follows the NH 66 coastal highway through Attingal and Paripally, with an easy detour to the cliffs at Varkala if time allows.
