About the trip
Kovalam is a crescent of beaches just south of Trivandrum, backed by palm groves and a red-and-white lighthouse. Visitors head there for a swim, Ayurvedic massages, fresh seafood and sunsets over the Arabian Sea. It is a short, easy drive along the NH 66 bypass, so it suits a relaxed day out or a quick airport transfer.

On the road
The drive takes the Kazhakkoottam–Kovalam bypass on NH 66, about 30–45 minutes from the city. Go early for calm water and cooler sand, and stay back for the sunset.
