About the trip
Thekkady, on the Kerala border, is the base for Periyar Tiger Reserve and the spice gardens of the Cardamom Hills. Travellers from Trichy come for a boat cruise on Periyar Lake, jungle walks, plantation tours and cool weather, usually staying a night or two. The route goes via Dindigul and Theni to Cumbum, then climbs the short Kumily ghat.
