About the trip
Karaikudi is the main town of Chettinad, a cluster of villages known for grand mansions built by Nattukottai Chettiar merchant families. Visitors come to walk through these homes, see Athangudi tiles being made, pray at the Pillayarpatti Karpaga Vinayagar Temple and sit down to spicy Chettinad cooking. The road from Trichy runs south via Keeranur and Pudukkottai.
