About the trip
Kumbakonam is a temple town in the Kaveri delta, surrounded by famous shrines including the navagraha temples and the Chola-built Airavatesvara Temple at Darasuram. Devotees from Trichy often come to cover several temples in one day, and the town's strong filter coffee is a bonus. The route runs along the delta via Thanjavur, through paddy fields and coconut groves.
