About the trip
Mysore is the old royal city of Karnataka, known for its lit-up palace, silk, sandalwood and the Dasara festival. The drive from Ooty is one of the prettiest in the south, going down the Nilgiris and straight through the Mudumalai and Bandipur forests, where elephants and deer are often seen from the road. The forest stretch through Bandipur is closed to traffic from 9 pm to 6 am, so plan the return well before evening. Leave Ooty by 6 am for a full day in the city.
