About the trip
Wayanad is a green highland district in north Kerala, full of spice estates, forests, lakes and trekking trails. From Mysore it is one of the nearest Kerala holidays, good for families, trekkers and anyone after quiet homestays. The road passes Gundlupet, then runs through Bandipur and the Muthanga forest before reaching Sultan Bathery, the gateway to the rest of the district.

On the road
The Bandipur–Muthanga forest road on NH 766 is closed at night (about 9 pm–6 am). Leave Mysore early to enjoy the forest in daylight and reach Edakkal Caves before crowds.
