Local tips
- The palace is lit up for a short time around 7 pm on set evenings; check the schedule for your dates.
- The Bandipur road to Ooty closes to traffic between 9 pm and 6 am.
- Dasara in September–October is beautiful but very crowded; book early.
- Footwear is not allowed inside Mysore Palace; there is a deposit counter at the entrance.
