About the trip
Tiruchendur is one of the six holy abodes of Lord Murugan and the only one set right on the seashore. Devotees bathe in the sea and the Nazhi Kinaru well before darshan, and the Kanda Sashti festival draws huge crowds. From Madurai the drive heads south via Tirunelveli or Thoothukudi, and many add Manapad's church and the Kulasekarapattinam Mutharamman temple.
