What to see
Hundreds of spotted deer live in the park, and many come right up to the fence, so close views are easy. Peafowl and other birds also wander through, which makes it a good spot for photography and birdwatching. The greenery here is a welcome contrast to the rocky slopes of the Seshachalam hills around it.
Feeding the deer
Vendors near the fence sell carrots and cucumbers, and many visitors offer these to the deer. Follow the guidance of park staff: feed only what is permitted, keep plastic away from the animals, and do not reach over the fence or startle them.
Timings and entry
There is normally no entry fee. Posted timings vary, and hours of roughly 10 am to 5 pm are commonly given, though the park may open earlier. Early morning and late afternoon are the best times, as the deer are more active when it is cooler. Twenty to thirty minutes is usually enough.
How to reach
The park lies on the main ghat road between Tirupati and Tirumala, so the simplest way is to stop on the way in a taxi or your own vehicle. Tirupati railway station and Tirupati airport at Renigunta are the nearest transport hubs. When we arrange Tirupati darshan packages, we can include a halt here if time allows.
Tips for your visit
Keep children close to the fence line rather than climbing on it, and avoid loud noises. Carry water and a cap. Check the ghat road timings for your vehicle, as traffic on the Tirumala road is regulated.
