What to see
The falls spread across a broad rock face, and in full flow the water comes down with real force before settling into a pool at the base. The stream belongs to the Godavari river system, so volumes rise sharply during the rains. A short walk away is a Shiva temple that has been a place of worship for several centuries and draws local pilgrims as well as sightseers.
- The main cascade and the pool below it
- The old Shiva temple near the falls
- Forest trails leading to small clearings and streams
- Birdlife and small woodland animals along the approach road
Best time to visit
Plan your trip for the monsoon or the months just after it, roughly July to November, when the falls are at their fullest and the forest is green. Early morning light is softer for photographs, and the air is cooler before midday. In the dry summer months the flow drops a good deal.
How to reach
Pochera lies about 50 km from Adilabad. The last stretch is a slow forest road, so allow extra time and travel in daylight. Adilabad has a railway station, and the town is connected by highway to Nirmal and Hyderabad. We can arrange a car and driver for a day trip that pairs Pochera with other sights in the district.
Tips for your visit
The pool looks gentle, but the depth is hard to judge and the current is strong in the rainy season, so stay back from the edges and avoid swimming. Carry water and snacks, as facilities are limited. If you picnic here, take all your rubbish back with you and keep noise low so the place stays pleasant for everyone.
