About the trip
Poovar is a small fishing village near the Tamil Nadu border, where the Neyyar river, backwaters and the Arabian Sea meet at a strip of golden sand. Visitors take motorboats through mangroves to the estuary beach and floating restaurants. It is one of the easiest outings from Kovalam, taking just half an hour by road. Many pair it with the Vizhinjam harbour and the lighthouse.
