About the trip
Munnar is a tea town in Kerala's Idukki district, surrounded by rolling estates, waterfalls and high peaks. It is a favourite weekend getaway from Coimbatore for families, friends and honeymooners. The route crosses into Kerala through Udumalpet and the Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary, then climbs past the sandalwood forests of Marayoor, so the scenery keeps changing the whole way.

On the road
The road runs via Pollachi, Udumalpet, Chinnar and Marayoor, with a narrow ghat stretch after the border. Start early, as the Chinnar forest section is best driven in daylight and you may spot elephants.
