About the shrine
The main hall is fan-shaped and seats about 2,500 people, with nine entrances so crowds can move in and out easily. Mass is celebrated in Kannada, Tamil and English at set times of the day, reflecting the city's mix of communities.
Many visitors come to give thanks for prayers they believe were answered, and the shrine has a reputation as a place of comfort and healing.
Festivals and special days
These are the busiest times at the shrine.
- Thursday devotions, with special Masses and prayers through the day
- The annual Infant Jesus feast in January, a 10-day celebration that opens with flag hoisting and ends with a procession
- Christmas, with decorations and a large nativity scene
Timings and tips
The church is open from 6 AM to 9 PM every day. If you prefer a quieter visit, avoid Thursdays and the January feast days. Dress modestly, keep your phone on silent during Mass, and follow the one-way movement inside when it is crowded. Street parking is limited, so a cab or auto is easier.
