About the trip
Thekkady, next to the Periyar Tiger Reserve, is Kerala's best-known wildlife and spice destination. Visitors take a boat on Periyar Lake to watch elephants and bison at the water's edge, walk through cardamom and pepper gardens and see a Kalaripayattu show. From Poovar the route climbs from the coast through Kottarakkara and Pathanamthitta or Kottayam into the hills.
