About the trip
Kanyakumari is the southern tip of mainland India, where the Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal and Indian Ocean meet. Visitors come to take the ferry to the Vivekananda Rock Memorial and the Thiruvalluvar statue, pray at the Kumari Amman Temple and watch the sun set over the sea. From Poovar the road crosses into Tamil Nadu and passes the Padmanabhapuram Palace.

On the road
The road runs through Marthandam and Nagercoil and can be slow in town traffic. Leave by 7:30 am to catch the early ferries, and note Padmanabhapuram Palace closes on Mondays.
