About the trip
Karaikal is a small coastal enclave of Puducherry, set between the Tamil Nadu districts of Nagapattinam and Mayiladuthurai. Most people go for the Tirunallar Dharbaranyeswarar Temple, where devotees pray to Lord Saneeswaran, especially on Saturdays. The drive goes south along the coast via Cuddalore, Chidambaram and Sirkazhi, passing rivers, paddy fields and temple towns.

Follow the coastal highway via Chidambaram and Sirkazhi. Saturdays are very crowded at Tirunallar, so leave Pondicherry by 5:30 am on those days.
