About the trip
Kumarakom is a cluster of small islands on the eastern shore of Vembanad Lake, known for its backwater resorts, mangrove bird sanctuary and quiet village canals. Visitors come for houseboat or shikara rides, birdwatching, Ayurvedic massages and toddy-shop food. The drive runs south-east via Tripunithura and Vaikom, passing coconut groves and paddy fields on the way.
