About the trip

Dalhousie is an old British hill station spread over five hills in the Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh. It is loved for its pine and deodar forests, colonial churches and quiet walking roads, with Khajjiar meadow a short drive further. From Amritsar the road runs through Batala and Pathankot on the plains, then climbs steadily through the Dhauladhar foothills for the last two hours.

What to see in Dalhousie

On the road

Drive via Batala, Gurdaspur and Pathankot, then a hill road up from Banikhet. Pathankot is a sensible halt for lunch before the climb; plan to arrive before dark.
