Why hire a car with a driver here
Most visitors to Amritsar want three things: the Golden Temple, Jallianwala Bagh next door, and the evening ceremony at the Attari–Wagah border about 30 km out. The walled city around the temple is a tangle of narrow lanes, and timing the border ceremony means leaving early to beat the crowds. A driver who knows the parking points near the Heritage Street and the best route to Attari makes the day far easier. You also have a car waiting for dhabas, markets and hotel runs.

Local tips
- Cover your head and remove your shoes at the Golden Temple; head scarves are handed out at the entrance.
- Leave for the Wagah ceremony by 2:30 pm in winter and earlier in summer, as seating fills early.
- Vehicles cannot enter the pedestrian Heritage Street, so expect a short walk to the temple.
- Winter fog in December and January can delay flights and early road journeys.
