About the trip
Shimla is the capital of Himachal Pradesh and a former summer capital of British India, spread along a ridge among deodar and pine forests. It is the easiest hill escape from Chandigarh, with walks on the Mall Road, the Jakhoo temple and snow in winter at Kufri. The road climbs from Kalka via Parwanoo, Dharampur and Solan on a wide four-lane highway.
