About the trip
Mysore, the old royal capital of the Wodeyars, is known for its grand palace, the Dasara festival, silk and sandalwood. It is the most popular long day trip from Bangalore, and many add Srirangapatna on the way. The Bangalore–Mysore expressway has cut the drive to under three hours, so you can see the main sights and still be home the same night.

Take the Bangalore–Mysore expressway; Srirangapatna sits just before the city. Leave by 6:30 am and stay for the palace lights on Sundays if you can.
